Which is why they are turned off by default. ;) Ideally they want recoding as new airports, but as a minimum perhaps a more explicit warning when turning the airports on?

Yes, mostly that. Removing it is more work than a warning. Though I quite strongly dislike these half-baked solutions like these which IMHO don't pass anymore as a glitch. Thus I might actually remove that parameter. A proper solution meanwhile is anyway to implement that as airport NewGRF.

When you say "remove that parameter", do you mean disabling the airports in OTTD completely? Personally I would rather have the option of using them, which shouldn't be a problem if users are made aware of the consequences of turning them on.

A proper solution would be to properly replace all the airport sprites in the same manner as obviously was done incompletely. I really dislike a parameter which reads "Attention, get proprietary stuff in order to use this" and would only annoy 2/3 of the users.

I would at least hide it from openttd by not using it in action14

It's not that the airport sprites weren't done properly (though there are some clipping issues with even the small and city airports due to the way some of the sprites have been cut), they simply weren't done with OTTD in mind. They would need to be substantially redrawn for OTTD to use them properly, but that would be a waste of some fine looking airports IMHO, hence my suggestion for recoding them as newairports instead (though obviously that would be a lot more work in terms of coding).

In the meantime, adding a note to the parameter* which says something like "Warning! Turning this feature on will result in some airports not displaying properly" seems perfectly sensible to me. I'm not sure what you mean by "proprietary stuff".

*As an aside, I don't like the double negative in the current parameter. Better to say "Use TTRS airports" and set it to "Off/No" by default.
