Especially OpenMSX installs in a named dir. That's bad for updating. Use a generic name only given by the project.

Tar balls still shall continue to use the full name including version.

What is bad about the name? Just without version.

gm/openmxs-0.2.1/*.mid -> gm/openmsx/*.mid

So... the common naming scheme could be in order to also be in sync with openttd's naming scheme:

binaries (grf): blahblah-x.y.z-all.zip
sources: blahblah-x.y.z-source.tar.gz
